Chats on the Farmhouse Porch- No way! Chat inside today. Brrr...

Hello friends. Just like last week, if you can pick up the code for the Chats button from a previous chat then you can post it. The good news on the computer front is the email that I got saying I would get parts for my laptop before the end of the week. Yay!In the meantime, this borrowed computer will allow the chat to go on.

Welcome to the porch. Let's get inside before we freeze! No, Wendell. You have to stay outside. Bummer! I haven't been part of chats for the last few weeks, and now I am excluded. I just don't want you in the house. YOU come into my house. What do you have to say about that? Wendell, I love you, but you aren't housebroken, and you don't know how to wipe your feet on the doormat. I promise you can be part of the chat next time we are on the porch. Can't you just leave the window open and I will stick my head in. Not this time, buddy. It is Polar Bear weather out there today. Wen? Honey, come back. There aren't really bears out there. Wendell?
QUESTIONS
  1. Have you tried any DIY cleaning products or skin care products from the many recipes on the internet?
  2. Do you like to enter sweepstakes, giveaways, or prize drawings?
  3. How often do you visit your local library? Do you have a local library?
  4. Do you have a simple mobile phone or one that does lots of things?
  5. Tell me something new or interesting. Please:)
My answers:
  1. Yes. I make my own laundry detergent from a recipe I learned two or three years ago. I tried a drain cleaner, but wasn't too thrilled. I am able to get my stainless steel appliances shiny with coconut or olive oil and polishing. I also make my own toothpaste.
  2. Sometime, but only if it looks legitimate. I like raffle tickets at local events if it is for a good cause.
  3. At least once a week. The library is a short drive.
  4. I have a plain cell phone. It even makes calls- when the sun is in the right place and I'm standing facing Pittsburgh or the North Pole. And I must be wearing striped socks or I might as well forget the whole thing! What an excellent phone plan we have!:P
  5. I felted three sweaters and I am making fingerless gloves. I love shrinking things on purpose. I have practiced for many years, before felting became popular. Maybe I can post photos when I have that ability again. Oh, I meant to tell you that we have two new lambs that were born today. I heard about it after I got home from a trip to the city today. I haven't seen them yet.. I hope to tomorrow.
Have a good week!

  2. It feels like Polar Bear weather here in the south, too. I'm soooo tired of winter! When is spring again? Oh yeah, March 20th!

You're so industrious to make all these things. I made automatic dishwasher detergent once and that was enough of an experience for me. It just seemed more trouble than it was worth the savings. I would like to play the lottery, but my conservative side says "that's a waste of money". The odds are totally stacked against me, so if I can enter something that doesn't cost me a cent with similar odds then you know what I'm going to aim for then, right? Baby lambs! I would love to see them, Patrice!

Thanks for hosting the chat session each Tuesday from your porch!

  3. You always make me laugh out loud with your humor! I love how you have been felting long before it was popular. And Poor Wendell afraid of the bears! What is funny is we have a Mennonite friend/neighbor named Wendell!
Same reason I had to change cell phone service, couldn't make a call from inside the house! Had to stand on the front porch, but I never did try the striped socks.
    Have a blessed day!

  6. I am staying in away from the cold and still have a head cold. But it is fun learning about what is going on in the rest of the world. Thanks for hosting and sharing.

  7. I'm so glad we've got this back! Last week I had a big blog series and couldn't participate, but I was happy to join up this week! Felted sweaters. Mmmm that sounds so warm! we are at -3 degrees today. My woodstove is working hard, but still hard to warm the whole house!

  8. Hi Patrice, just finished my post, now going to get the mail and check on my animals. It's nasty cold here and difficult to get outside stuff done.

  12. I make my own laundry detergent and fabric softener. I do have a smartphone and do enjoy it. The most interesting thing I can tell is that our boy's and girl's basketball teams are playing in the state championship this Thursday, meaning no school for us that day.

  13. Congrats on the new lambs!!!! My daughter has tried DIY stuff for her lips but she always went back to Burts Bees. Works the best for both of us. I do like a hand scrub of sugar and olive oil, esp during the winter!
