Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 113

Everyday Ruralty
Hello friends!I'm sitting here in my favorite sweater. The porch is probably a bit cold, and damp. We had rain yesterday. It rained in sheets during one part of the day. It was very hot just a few days ago. The leaves have been changing color a bit. The rain makes it look so vivid. I look forward to the beautiful colors as the leaves change more.
I'm doing the questions a little differently today, just for some variety. I probably won't be keeping this format. Some of you expressed that you'd like some variety. Wendell isn't with us. He's trying to get every last blade of grass in the pasture, before it all stops growing.
Questions:
  1. Are you doing any crafts or DIY projects now?
  2. If I could snap my fingers, I'd make____________ for dinner.
  3. What author would you like to have lunch with? (It doesn't have to be someone alive now. We could use a time machine or something. :)
  4. I wanted to tell all of you folks at chats______________________.
  5. ________________________ has been on my mind a lot lately.
My answers:
  1. I am painting some small furniture pieces for a friend who has a store in the city. I'll show them to you. I love before and after pictures. Don't you?
  2. The kitchen spotless and finish the remodeling. I know this probably isn't the answer that occurred to most of you, but I have spackled sheet-rock that needs some paint. It stares at me each time I cook!
  3. I love Jane Austen, but I think I would enjoy talking to Elizabeth Gaskill, since I know so little about her. I would also like to talk to Charles Dickens. I enjoy his writing and the movies made from it. He lived in a time of so many societal issues. We have many issues now too.
  4. How much I enjoy visiting with you. Then I'd like to take you out to the pasture to see Wendell. Forgive him if he's not too talkative. He has his mouth stuffed to capacity!
  5. Finances have been on my mind. The economy is more challenging, and I'm more aware of money now with the government shut downs. Do many of you know folks who are touched by this? We know many.

  1. We have not been touched by the financial problems in the US so far however we are planning to be in the States soon and if the crisis is not settled we could have trouble crossing the border.

  2. I don't know a lot touched personally by the changes in the government right now. However, they have closed a lot of areas in our local National Park so that is kind of scary. Be sure and share the pics of the before after pictures. I love seeing projects.

  6. Patrice, I so appreciate you taking the time each week for us to have these farmhouse porch chats! Last week was my first and I have looked to doing it again this week so much! I'm looking forward to pictures of the chairs you are painting...and I understand how you feel about your kitchen right now. I went through that a few years ago.
