108th Chat- That's a lot of talking!

Everyday Ruralty
Hello, friends! I hope this week has started well for you. Wendell won't be with us today. He has so much peer pressure from the draft horse. Fortunately, they are pretty good influences. It has been delightfully cool in the morning. I fool myself and pretend that we are in fall. How I love fall!
Questions
  1. Do you remember your first day of school?
  2. Do you decorate for the different seasons? If so, have you decorated for fall yet?
  3. What food do you associate with fall?
  4. Do you order books online, buy books in a bookstore, download books to a device, or frequent the library? If not interested in books, how do you get your music?
  5. When was the last time you realized that you had just been talking to someone really special?
My answers:
  1.  I actually don't. I hated going to school so badly, that I think I blocked it from my mind. I understand I was the child who, was dropped off and just stood there crying. Yes, I know. There's one in every crowd!
  2. I usually only decorate for Christmas and the Open Farm Days for our customers.Oops, I do some fall things before Thanksgiving. I would love to decorate for the different times of year, but  I have never carved the time out for something like that. I like seeing what other do.
  3. I think of soup. I love soup and generally tend to shy away from making it when it is hot out. I am usually anxious for cooler weather and enjoy making a variety of soups. Bread and rolls go well with that soup. :) Just saying...
  4. I order books online, browse book stores and then go home and order them online, download to my Kindle, and borrow a ton of books from the library. Did I tell you I like books?
  5. I was talking to a wonderful Godly woman on Sunday. I walked away from our conversation thinking, "I want to be like her when I grow up"! Some people are just amazing and it's easy to spot them.
Wishing you all a wonderful week!

  1. You and I think about soup in the fall! Now that I'm retired I'm thinking I'll have time for more decorating! Thanks for the chat!

  2. I don't recall my first day, but I do remember always getting plaid dresses, often with a pinafore, for school.... and the dreaded Stride-rite oxfords in the fall preparing for the first day of school.
I decorate minimally for fall - but usually around Halloween or Thanksgiving - yeah, that's a big spread of time! I did put out some fake sunflowers in the window box, but those are 'late summer' - not fall!
I associate anything 'pumpkin' with fall. Yum!
For the books, all of the above, and more! I also check out swap shelves at RV parks and trade with friends.
It seems to have been a while, or I talked with someone special and haven't realized that they were so special, yet!

    Have a wonderful week!

  7. I remember lots about kindergarten, but not the first day.

I love decorating for fall and Christmas, but not so much the rest of the year.

  8. I loved your chat!! I can't believe I didn't even think of soup... such a wonderful food during Fall, makes everything feel warm and cozy when the air starts to get chilly.
And I love your answer to the last question. What a blessing!!

I so enjoy Chats on the Farmhouse porch and reading others and writing them :)

Hope you have a great evening!
    Blessings to you,

  9. School....and I'm the other one, Patrice. :) The teacher's paddle must have had my name engraved on it!

We love books, too! There's enough reading material in this house to start our own library. Plus, we have over 4,000 books on the Kindle. We have more books than we'll live long enough to read. haha

    Have a great week!

  10. Hi Patrice! I enjoyed the questions this week. When I started first grade and had lunches at school, I absolutely hated them, I would drink the milk and eat a roll off the tray, I was a very picky eater. The teacher called my mom after watching me do this for a week and I started bringing my lunch for the rest of my grade school days. I also remember saying I was sick more then I really was, so I could stay home with my mom.

On my post I said I didn't buy books for my Nook but have read free ones. I'm with you on the soups for fall but apples and pumpkin items also make me think of fall. I tried emailing you back when you commented but it said no reply blogger.
