Men and Illness

I've read a lot of blogs where female bloggers talk about their husbands/significant others when sick. Some have been compassionate posts and others delve into the reality of guys who don't handle illness as well. Is that a diplomatic way of saying that?

I hate when illness comes to the house. I remember times when one child would get sick. Inevitably, they pass it to siblings. Parents can be included, as well. The fun can continue as folks get reinfected. We've had all six of us down at once, and marathons where colds/flus have kept circling for up to six weeks. My husband's nickname for me is CDC (Center for Disease Control). If you're sick in my house, I isolate you and wipe down everything. I was hoping for a hazmat suit for a gift. I hope they come in blue!

I hope you enjoy this little film I found on YouTube regarding guys who are sick. Man cold- don't you love the name?

Have a great weekend!

  3. Bill used to be such a wimp when he got sick. Since he became a trucker, suddenly nothing gets to him! He has had a cold for a month (he sounds terrible on the phone), and just acts like it is nothing! He has been back & forth across the country, not one whimper!

  4. It is hard when anyone is sick. I think because my husband gets sick so rarely this time the kids have all been scared and keep asking me if " Dad is going to die?" I am not a good nurse so It would help if I was.
I hope your hubby gets well soon too.

  9. I think CDC is a good nickname for you! LOL I use Clorax wipes on the keyboards in the computer lab and just found out that, unless you keep it wet for 4 minutes, it's virtually ineffective. What a waste. There's a new product coming out but it's only available commercially. Any helpful hints?

  10. Yup... so darn true! I have to admit to grievous behavior years ago when someone I live with, who is male, who is about my age, had 'the flu'. Of course, I had a cold, but his was the flu. He says. I made chicken soup from scratch (this happened BC (before children) in the early days of our marriage). He complained that I didn't put enough noodles in the soup (after saying the thought of eating anything made him nauseous). I cooked some noodles, walked over to his bowl, when he was leaning over it, and dumped the *(&)^(*%( noodles in from about 3 feet in the air - so he was wearing most of the soup. I think he got the point. However, I never made soup for him again, so I'm not certain!

  11. Love the CDC. I do a lot of deep cleaning when everyone is sick.
