Pointsettias
I want to show you something pretty. Poinsettias are popular this time of year. I only remember red ones from my childhood, but they have some other variations now. Do you have any in your home?

I love poinsettias. They are my birthday month flower as well as the favorite flower of my Mom and my Mamaw. Mom and Mamaw used to compete each year to see who was the first to get their poinsettias out after Thanksgiving. When I got a home of my own, I would compete with them. Poinsettias are one of my favorite things about Christmas and it is always the red ones. Thanks for bringing back those memories.
ReplyDeleteI have a small red one in my windowsill...I hope to keep it alive. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have any in my home but I sure have seen some pretty and unusual colored ones. Hope you have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you telling us about Maggie. My sis and I along with a few of my blog friends are all sending her cards and prayers.
We always have one or two. It wouldn't seem like Christmas without them.
ReplyDeletevery nice. i don't buy them for myself as i can't keep them living past feb. :)
ReplyDeleteI have one, but as I seem to kill them without fail. I am sure by the end of December it well be dead as a doornail.
ReplyDeleteI have seen some really pretty ones at the store. I love your photographs. Is that your green house?
They're all beautiful....especially the hot pink and light pink ones!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a funny story about poinsettias....
ReplyDeleteMy mom had received one about christmas when I was a little kid (probably two or so). She put it on the table and didn't think much about it...she left me alone for about two seconds, and came back into the room to find the potted plant upturned with dirt all over the floor and the poinsettias in my mouth....which of course they are poisonous! She had no idea how many I had eaten or what had made me think it was a good idea to grab them and stuff them into my mouth (toddlers are so ridiculous!). Obviously panic ensued...and we no longer keep poinsettias around (we have cats and don't want them to get ahold of them) but it is quite the comical story now!
I think all of the variations are lots of fun. I especially think the curly ones are unique. For some reason, whenever I've had them, they lose their leaves - so, this year I bought two stems and stuck them in two pots with geraniums that came inside for the winter. They look seasonal and add a spot of color, even if they aren't real!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any in my home, but our local FFA always has them this time of year. They are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any yet! I love the pink ones, but may have to get classic reds for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteMy husband came home from the store the other day and gave me a beautiful red one. He did the same thing last year, but I did not do a good job of keeping it a live.
