Love at First Sight- The Paleo Indulgences Cookbook Review

I was so pleased to review this beautiful cookbook, Paleo Indulgences by Tammy Credicott. It was eye candy for me. The pictures are beautiful. The Paleo diet is one that bases nutrition on the foods that we were "evolutionarily designed to eat". This refers to food used by hunter/ gatherers. If you are interested in reading about this diet, you might want to read 'The Paleo Solution' by Robb Wolf. There is all sorts of information on the internet, too.

It would be tempting to think that you could have lots of wonderful treats at each meal, but in reality, that's inadvisable in any diet. Paleo Indulgences gives you options so that someone following the Paleo diet, a Gluten Free Diet, or anyone wishing to use more nutrient dense foods, can have some special treats. I know how valuable this can be. I have been cooking gluten free for nine years now. When my kids have gone to various social events, they have wanted to enjoy foods like others who were not on a special diet. I have often had to bake a treat so that my kids could enjoy something while others were eating gluten laden foods. This cookbook will give me an assortment of new gluten free recipes for my family. Let's look at some of the yummy things in the book.

Coconut Milk Caramels

Some-More-Ahhhhhs
(Yes! More would be fine with me!)

Vanilla Cupcake with Strawberry Frosting
(Where was this recipe last time my daughter had a birthday party?)

This is a picture of a No Bake Chocolate Tart.
I had to use this photo from the book, because my family ate
them so fast that I didn't get a chance to take a picture!
Doesn't that tell you something?
Yes! It tells us that the pictures you post on this blog of pigs, must actually be your family!
Ouch!

My photo of the lovely Sweet Potato Thyme Biscuits that I made.
They were delightful with soups and chowders. We've made them three
times and we just received the book. :)

This is also one of my photos of the Cinnamon Swirl Rolls.
I cheated an threw a glaze on them. Still Gluten free though!

Keep in mind that I am not only an experienced Gluten Free cook, but I'm a professional chef. These recipes  are not difficult. The ingredients are healthy. On a scale of one to ten, I'd wholeheartedly give it a 10!
My compliments to the author, Tammy! You have produced a beautiful book that any family could enjoy.

The book is not just sweet treats, so I will share the recipe sections with you:
The Bakery
Today's Specials
Restaurant Recreations
The Candy Counter
The Ice Cream Shop

You can purchase this book at Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Better yet, go to the author's blog and purchase them through either retailer there.

  1. Hi Patrice! I'm already a follower. I checked out her blog and several of the recipes caught my eye and my tastebuds... the Chili Dusted Cauliflower and the smoothies to name a couple. And I liked The Healthy Gluten Free Life on FB.

I have been wanting to learn more about the Paleo way of eating as well as going gluten free. My hubby had a serious heart attack 10 years ago that resulted in a triple bypass at the age of 47. We try to eat healthy but fall prey to too many temptations. He currently needs to lose some weight but as he has gotten older the weight is more difficult to lose. We need help and from what I'm hearing and reading this is the way we need to go.

Thank you for this giveaway! You had me at Coconut Milk Caramels, lol! I'm crossing my fingers for this one...

  4. Yum! Put my name in the hat, please! I also 'Liked' the Healthy Gluten Free Life on fb. I will be heading to the blog to check things out, too. Since our cooking classes on the cruise I have become more interested in cooking - so I love looking at new recipes - but since I haven't done that yet, I don't qualify for that entry!

  5. This is so timely in my life right now. Our baby GRANDson was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance about 6 months ago and was put on a gluten-free diet (glute, as he calls it ;-) I've been noticing how upset my tummy gets lately when I eat wheat products and also how it affects my mood....I get really lethargic and just feel down. I didn't associate it with the wheat until a few weeks ago. I'm not "gluten-free", but I have cut out breads and crackers. It's taking my tummy a bit to re-coup, but I'm feeling much better. I LOVE everything on her site and will be going back there to get some ideas. I also follow you, my friend, and "like" Ms. Tammy on Facebook. Thanks for a chance to win!!! HOPE you have a great weekend!! (p.s...our daughter does the same thing when the boys go to a party...she takes a goody along for them that they can have)
