Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 68

Everyday Ruralty
Hello, friends! I hope your week is going well so far. We had a t-shirt kind of day today. It was almost 70 degrees. I've been working hard on my novel for NaNoWriMo. Take a look at the widget on my sidebar and you can see how many words I have. I spent the time during the girls' music lessons writing a road map. That way I know exactly where I'm going when I sit down to write the next day.
I have two giveaways going right now:
Paleo Indulgences Cookbook
Tropical Traditions Organic Palm Shortening
Great cookbook! Great shortening! Give it a try:)

I'm waiting for Patrice to have a giveaway of a hairbrush!

Questions
  1. What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish? For anyone not in the US, what's your favorite fall side dish?
  2. What's the first thing you do when you have a headache?
  3. Do you like to "people watch"? (Observe people in public while waiting for something or relaxing)
  4. Where's your family most likely to eat for a day to day meal? (Read= not holiday)
  5. Tell me about your plans for Thanksgiving Day. Or tell me something special you will do soon.
My answers:
  1. I love stuffing with gravy! It has changed since I've started making it gluten free, but it's still a favorite.
  2. I drink water. Sounds funny, but usually when I get a headache it's because I'm dehydrated. Most of the  time, the headaches go bye bye.
  3. It depends on what mood I'm in. If I have the time, it can be enjoyable. I usually try to fit the people into character molds so I can use them in writing projects.
  4. We eat in our dining room. It's comfortable and the cooking island in the kitchen rarely has room for any of us, let alone all of us! Once in a blue moon, we will eat while watching a movie, so that will be in the living room/family room.
  5. I'm going to cook like crazy and eat like crazy!

  1. Love the eating like crazy idea for Thanksgiving. I don't eat "big" meals for the whole week before so I can be ready for the big day. Thanks for the tip about drinking water for a headache. I am bad about not drinking enough water and sometimes I feel dehydrated. I'm going to try that next time I get a headache.

  3. Great questions this week. I miss joining up - but can't do that with a private blog can I? Anyway, my favorite thanksgiving treat is our family stuffing. It's made with a pound of sausage and a pound of bacon and all the grease poured over the top. (Who says it was low calorie?)

I also like to people watch. It's actually quite fun. However, I have learned not to judge a book by it's cover. You can see someone dressed like a hoodlum and have a gentleman. (or close to one)

Day to day meals are eaten in the dining room as a family. No better place to do that, right?

I will agree - Wendell needs a comb or a brush. My daughter would love to come and brush him for you.

  4. Patrice, I am with you on the headache cure! I drink and drink. I used to live day to day with an almost permanent headache - low level, but *there*. I began drinking water (warm, I've never been keen on cold water!) and I can count on one hand the number of headaches I've had this year. It's amazing! I begin every morning with a mug of water; then I have another one with my Tea and Toast; then one after my lunch etc etc.

Oh, and I *love* people watching. I make up 'stories' in my head. Sometimes I can almost be in tears, because I think that elderly man is widowed and that's why he's doing the shopping on his own etc..... Then I see his wife waiting for him in the car, and I want to jump for joy!! Yep, I'm weird :)
