I was waiting for my lovely daughter to inventory the store.
Me: Honey, can we go now?
Daughter: Uh, huh.
Me: Can we go now?
Daughter: Uh, huh.
Me: I'm leaving in just a minute!
Daughter: Uh, huh.
(She's compelled to look at absolutely everything in the store, even if it's something she wouldn't want. ???)
I was wondering if I should pick her up and carry her out of the store, when my eyes focused on these:
These adorable little houses were just perched on a glass counter, in no particular arrangement (read- thrown there like they were junk). I asked the lady how much they were and I was sure they would be one of the things in the store that were overpriced. Part of the store is cheap and the other part is pretending to be a fine boutique. She said, "Fifty cents each". There was smoke coming from my hands, because I reached so fast to grab them!
They are tiny spice canisters sold by the Avon company. I believe they are only ten years old. The little roofs come off to fill them. I'm picky about the way I keep my spices, plus I wouldn't want these messed up. I like them on my mantel in the dining room. Take a look at a few of the buildings.
I'm so happy with my purchase. They make me smile every time I look at them. I just saw a display of Christmas houses and I noticed some tiny trees that might have to come to this neighborhood.
Have a great week, my friends!
What an awesome find! They are adorable. I love a good bargain.
ReplyDeleteNice find! And they look like they're in great shape. I would be smiling too!
ReplyDeleteVery cute I bet that gingerbread house that was my Mom's goes with that set.
ReplyDeleteI had never seen another one until I saw yours in your pictures.
Patrice, what a deal you got, all that for only $5.00. They are so cute and make a lovely addition to your dining room mantel. I believe that there were 12 houses in the collection so keep your eyes open for two more. JB
ReplyDeleteThey'll make a nice Christmas display!
ReplyDeleteGreat find. Maybe you are catching the junk fever.
ReplyDeleteif it wasn't for that dawdling daughter... :)
ReplyDeleteCool find! Good thing your daughter wanted to stay so long :)

ReplyDeleteOh, my word...they are so precious. What a great bargain!!! If there's a Dollar Tree in your neck of the woods, they have little trees that go with CHRISTmas displays. Those would look good with your display!!! I'm still on the look-out for you a tin!!! HOPE you have a great week!!!
