Chats- postponed
Hello, friends. Chats on the Farmhouse Porch will be postponed until Wednesday morning. D3 was riding Molly. She was loping up a grassy hill when the horse bucked. She tried an "emergency dismount", but that is very difficult on such a tall horse. She fell on her backside first, then her head hit the ground. Had she not tried the dismount, her head may have been first. She hit the ground hard enough that SHE BROKE HER HELMET. A big crack up the back of the helmet. Thankfully, her helmet protected her head. Five hours in the ER told us that she has a mild concussion. This is the second daughter to have a horseback riding accident resulting in a concussion. The last one was quite serious and the doctor told me that she would have been killed or paralyzed had that daughter not had on a helmet. Thank you to the Troxel company for making such great riding helmets! Please keep your families safe by reminding folks to wear helmets for biking and horseback riding. See you tomorrow on the porch! -Patrice

Thank goodness for the helmet. I hope she feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteOh Patrice .... Thankful for how she is - it's too horrifying to think of alternatives :(
ReplyDeleteSoooo thankful she was wearing that helmet. Praying for you all x
Praise God for keeping her safe. Why is it our daughters insist on riding? I tell you, watching them fall is horrible. My daughter fell a few weeks back and it scared the life out of me. She was thrown over the horse's head! Ikes! Anyway, I am happy to hear she will be okay and I am also very glad there are safety helmets for our use.
ReplyDeleteYou postpone the chats as long as you need to....it can wait, daughter's can't!!! So blessed that she had that helmet on. Praying for her and her sweet Momma!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful that she is ok!
ReplyDeleteOh Patrice, that could have been a real tragedy. Thank God that your daughter is OK and that her helmet protected her. Concussions are serious enough on their own. That would make me very nervous for future horse riding. I'm sure that she will be sore. Prayers for D3.

I am so glad she wasn't hurt badly and I am so glad she had a helmet on. I hope she gets completely well soon.
ReplyDeleteOooh that's scary about D3!! I am glad she will be okay and yes, thankful for the helmet!!
ReplyDeletePhew.... thank Heaven for helmets!
ReplyDeleteI can just picture that fall - and the momentum, from a large horse, would make the head really slam into the ground with a lot of fury.
I am so glad she only suffered a mild concussion.
Take your time. We'll chat when you are ready!
Prayers to D3 for a quick recovery!
oh, d3! so sorry, but so glad you will be okay!
ReplyDeleteVery scary, but thank God she'll be ok.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! So glad that she is ok! Concussions can be so scary, this mama became in expert in them unfortunately.
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord that your daughter is okay! To think of the tragedy that could have occurred had she not been wearing a helmet. Thanks for the reminder of the importance to always wear safety gear no matter what activity we're doing. God bless.
ReplyDeletePraise God she had her helmut on and she will be ok, we will pray for you all and see you soon.
ReplyDeleteWe are sending here some love and ((((Hugs)))) from across the pond, plus some for you to. good job she was wearing a helmet
ReplyDeleteHave a Good Week
See Yea George xxx
Oh goodness! I am so glad that's all it was! I'm thinking of y'all! Especially you mama!
ReplyDeleteOh my word, I am so glad she's OK!!!! God bless you all.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your daughter is okay. Okay? Wait, she's not okay. A concussion isn't okay, but you get what I'm saying. I'm happy things aren't worse than they could have been otherwise. God gives us wisdom to do what we can for ourselves such as wearing proper headgear and the rest is in His hands. It looks like He gave charge to His angels in keeping your daughters from serious harm. Every since Christopher Reeve's accident I have been even more so less inclined to ever wanting to mount a horse again. Sorry Wendall! Get well D3, you're in my thoughts & prayers!!!
ReplyDeleteContinuing to pray for your sweet daughter. Hope she is feeling better today. That had to be scary for all of you. Helmets are so important. Glad she was wearing hers.
