Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 60

Everyday Ruralty
Welcome to my porch!

Welcome to my pasture! I didn't want to miss the
chat, so I started chatting the night before.

Thank you to everyone who left good wishes for D3's recovery. She is doing quite well. As a matter of fact, she even competed in a horse show Saturday. She won (1) First Place, (4) Second Place, (2) Third Place, (1) Fourth Place, and (1) Sixth Place. Molly was an angel horse. They even competed in a speed competition related to barrel racing. That's like being in a tractor trailer and racing sports cars. They did remarkably well.
I'm seeing Halloween things at stores. They'll have Christmas out soon too. It's enough to  make a person crazy!
Let's get to that chat now.
QUESTIONS
  1. Do you prefer to wash dishes by machine or by hand? If you tell me you don't wash dishes, I will cry, but secretly want to be like you when I grow up!
  2. Who has been the biggest inspiration to you?
  3. Have you been to any fall festivals or local fairs? Will you be going to any?
  4. Bath or shower?
  5. Tell me something interesting you learned from a blog recently. Please:)
My answers:
  1. I cook everything from scratch because of multiple food allergies in our house (not all the same either). I make a ridiculous amount of dirty dishes. Machine! I love my dishwasher. I just put the fourth load on for the day.
  2. My mom was an incredible lady. She'd had a challenging childhood, but she was one of the most positive, friendly, loving people you would ever want to meet. I miss her so much.
  3. Not this year, but I enjoy a fair or festival when I get a chance to go.
  4. Both have advantages. When I want to relax, a bath is just the right thing. When I'm in a hurry, or really a mess then the shower is my choice.
  5. I just learned that there is more beneficial bacteria in kefir than yogurt. I bet you were wondering!
I hope you have a wonderful week!

  1. You are one of those women I admire who can cook anything from scratch. It is a talent I haven't master in 55 years of living. I can make a mean meatloaf and baked beans and a few other things, but mostly I am a semi-homemade or heat and eat person. Good thing hubby loves to cook. I agree with you on the bath/shower thing. Love my baths, but there are times a shower is the only way to go.

  5. Hi Patrice, what a beautiful nocturnal photo of Wendell. I'm so glad that D3 is well enough to be in show competition again and congratulations on her winning. She's a tough girl, like her mom, no doubt.

    To answer your questions:
    (1) I love doing dishes by hand but after years of hand washing and being so busy, I caved in and bought a dishwasher just so I could have more time on my computer visiting blogs....
(2)My mom was my biggest inspiration and I miss her too.
    (3) I haven't been to the fair in ages, not a fan of crowds and noises. I loved it at one time but now I'm mostly so tired at the end of the day, all I want is quiet.
    (4) I shower mostly, always in a rush... but love a nice lavender soak once in a while in cool weather.
    (5) Gosh, every blog I follow has some interesting stuff. I love to look at the photo of decorations, hooking, sewing etc, about what they've been up to, places they've been, out of the ordinary things they share on their blogs.

    Have sweet week, JB

  7. Hi Patrice, so glad to hear D3's good news...ALL of it! I was somewhere recently...can't remember the story...there was Halloween with Thanksgiving on the aisles behind, followed by Christmas. Yep, why wait to put it out when it's time; just throw the stuff on the shelves and get 'er done!
    sheesh.
What's next? Leaving the stuff up all year?

  8. Baths for me and I enjoy so many recipes I read. Actually cook/bake from most of them too! I use a dishwasher and thankful that I have one.

  10. Great news to hear about D3. BTW, are you now doing this meme on Tuesdays? Four loads of dishes everyday or just today? That's a lot of washing! I can get away with doing it just once with only the three of us now. On days when I do a lot of cooking then I pile the dishwasher and let her go. Anything left over, I do by hand. I guess with the no cooking restrictions on this end makes life less complicated. Thanks for hosting. Have a good week!

  11. We don't have hardly any festivals around here. There's a fall festival in October but it's for the kids. And it's fun, if you have kids. Which I don't anymore. Other than that, nada. That is the best picture of Wendell! Since I've been back at school, I haven't had time to go into a store. But I'd love to see the Halloween stuff. And Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love it all no matter when they put it out. So glad D3 is all better and doing well! Congrats on all her places- ribbons? How's Ms College getting along?

I will be back next week (on time). Hugs to you both! ~xo~
