Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 58

Welcome to the porch! I'm glad you stopped by for a visit.
Don't mind me. I'm just having a little Wendell snack while you chat.
Patrice told me I can't talk with my mouth full.
Chomp-chomp-chomp

Wendell is with us today. I couldn't find the boy the other day and I was just starting to wonder if we had a problem with a downed fence or something that
allowed him to go exploring. Thankfully, one of the girls found him in the innermost corner of our bank barn near the cool block walls. He must have been trying to cool off. He's rarely there, so I'm not surprised that I missed him. I was relieved to hear that he was safe, sound, and at home. How can you lose something that big?
Everyday Ruralty

Questions
  1. What's your favorite kind of sandwich?
  2. Do you have more photos or artwork on the walls of your home?
  3. Do you switch your wardrobe(clothing) when the seasons change?
  4. How do you keep your recipes: books, cards, computer?
  5. What are you looking forward to the most in the month of September?
My answers:
  1. I like a club sandwich. I had one once with a crabcake in the layers- Yummy!
  2. I have more artwork, but I have an awful lot of photos. I don't have everything back up on the walls after the renovations. When everything is finished, I will deck the walls. Fa-La-La
  3. I have to store my winter clothes when it's warm and visa-versa. I am a sweater fanatic(jumpers for you across the pond)- I'm totally obsessed with sweaters. They are so snuggly and look great with so many things.
  4. Yes, yes, and yes. Who made up this stupid question? Not me, Patrice. I have memorized my favorite way to eat carrots. Crunch-crunch-crunch! I have lots of recipe books, but one of my favorite is one that has lines and you can write in your own recipes. I have cards too, but they take up too much room when they outgrow the recipe box. I love keeping tjem on the computer, but it's just one more step to go retrieve them. There is no perfect way, except for Wendell's way.
  5. Finishing more of the house. More baking. Perhaps a visit to see my sister. Isn't it convenient that she lives at the beach? We hardly ever go during the summer when everyone else is on vacation. I love it there in early fall. We've been in February. It's chilly, but it's fun to bundle up and collect shells while the Atlantic Ocean rolls up on the sand.
Have a super week!

  3. Patrice, I am with you on the sweaters. Love, love, love my sweaters. Once cool weather hits, you rarely see me in anything except sweaters and jeans for everyday or sweaters and pants for church. My faves are the argyle or Fair Isle patterns. The more color in them, the better. Maybe we should put a hot pink or bright yellow sweater on Wendell so he won't be so hard to find.

  7. Hi patrice, I hope that you are having some nice weather like us today although I haven't been out yet except this morning which was cool.
I'm off to the farm but wanted to answer your questions her.
    1. My favorite sandwich is sockeye wild salmon with dill weed on whole wheat bread or wrap. I also like a variety.

    2. I have more art work like prints, cross stitch, mirrors than pictures on my wall.

    3. I dress according to season but change often as the temperature fluctuates during the day.

    4. funny you should ask, I've been trying to organize my favorite recipes in a scribbler by taping my card recipes at the top so I can read in the back of the cards but I also have some in books and drawers. It's still a mess but now every time I use a favorite I add it in the proper section of my scribbler. The pages have perforations and holes for a binder and can be detached and put in a binder. It's still a work in progress.

    5. I'm looking to cooler temperatures.

That grass looks weedy and I was wondering if Wendell was really eating or just pretending. It looks like he's looking up with his head down and his ears are listening.

Have a good chat on the porch. I still can't seem to copy and paste your questions on my MacPro Book.

  10. Hi Patrice, Vicki's Grow Your Blog Party is for all bloggers. She'll have a list for those bloggers with fewer than 200 and with more than 200. We can all, hopefully, grow our blogs!
I'm going to come back later today, time willing, farm work is horrendous today.

  11. We were in Michigan in February 2000 and I recall how amazing it was to see one of the first Great Lakes ever along the east shore line. I think that's Lake Eerie. Anyhow, it was beautiful all frozen over and it seemed as vast as the ocean, but I knew it didn't compare to such enormity. The wind was wicked in strength and the bite...OUCH. All I can say is I'm glad the reason we went there (job interview) was not meant for us to be there for the long haul. The short visit was enough to tell me I would not be happy that far north, but I would like to re-visit sometime when the weather isn't so bitter. Thanks for hosting another week. I'm running way behind this week!
