Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 49

Everyday Ruralty

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the porch. It's been hot lately, so we must visit early and not be out mid-day.  I got in my truck today and the temperature initially said 109, but I believe that was a dark vehicle sitting in the hot sun. After driving it with the windows open, it registered 98.

I realize that our good friend, Wendell, hasn't been participating in the chats lately. I've bribed him with carrots and he'll answer each question with me. He's having so much fun being "one of the guys" that I scarcely see him lately. :( It's not that I feel unloved or anything like that, but I feel -uh- well, yep- unloved by my own horse! Sob. I'm fine. I have a plan. I'll get more carrots!
Yes. It's me.
You know, Patrice, I really must get back to the other pasture and my friends.
Just this one chat, Wendell, and you can go with Rocky and Ricky. BTW, have I
told you that you sound like a teenager?
Cool! Can I have an iPod with really big earbuds?
I know D3 lets you listen to hers. I can't believe you like Taylor Swift's music. I just thought
you'd be into something different than that.
Nope. She's a blonde like me. And, I'm swift too.
Can we chat now?
I guess, but I want to get back to my friends.
The people at the chat are your friends. Besides, I have a carrot.
Well, what are you waiting for?

Questions
  1. What are your plans for the 4th of July?
  2. What's your favorite ethnic food?
  3. What's your least favorite chore?
  4. What really "stopped you in your tracks" and made you think twice?
  5. Would you rather dry your clothes on a clothes line or in a dryer?
Our answers:
  1. We might grill, but I have no other plans. In the evening, I will watch all of the neighbors' fireworks from my window. These people are quite serious and buy some major fireworks.                                     Is it my turn already? I will eat some grass, chase some chickens, and roll on my back early in the day.
  2. This is tough for me. I really like French, Italian, and Mexican. (probably in that order)                        I like leftover grain from the chickens and pigs, but Patrice gets mad when I sneak in and get some. She says it makes me sick. Are carrots an ethnicity?
  3. Cleaning the bathroom.                                                                                                                  Obeying humans.
  4. I was sitting comfortably reading a few blog posts when I read this post from my blog friend, Feral Woman  http://gowestferalwoman.blogspot.com/2012/07/update-at-200000-and-burning.html. I was overwhelmed with emotion when I  thought of how difficult (insufficient word!) it must be to know a wildfire is coming towards you home and  you must get ready to leave. The fires in Colorado, Montana, and other Western states have caused SO much damage. I ask any of you who are praying folks to please help me pray for her and all of the other people who are being affected by this tragedy. God Bless and protect everyone.                                                                                                   Hearing Patrice just now. Wendell is sad.
  5. I like air dried clothes, but I do a huge amount of laundry(12-15 loads a week) and I could never begin to keep up if I had to go to the  trouble of putting it all out on the line. I definitely can't during pollen season in the spring. Now I feel guilty for all the energy I'm using. Clothesline? We'll see.    Wendell's clothes dry automatically and I'm energy efficient. What do you think of that, Patrice?         I think you look dashing in your horse suit, Wendell!
Have a great week!
