Yay, Farmers! Giveaway:)

I somehow missed Agricultural Day yesterday. Was I supposed to bake a cake? Polish the tractor? Give a gift to C.S.Farmer? I miss most small calendar days that aren't big holidays. I have often thought that many of the days, that were designated for a special reason, were named by the greeting card industry. Cynical! Yes. I missed the chance to have an agriculture party.Shucks! Wendell would have been there. He'd look cute in a party hat.

I celebrated agriculture by walking out to the garden  to pick some veggies for lunch. Our wonderful intern had already picked some Laticino Kale. He cut some Kohlrabi for my root vegetable roast. I managed to find some sweet potatoes in storage. We're getting to the last of the stored things. There's green in the fields, so good things will be up soon. I tried to visit Wendell, but he was quite grumpy. I then toured the new chicken palace that C.S.Farmer created. I guess I celebrate agriculture every day. In a way, you could say that everyone celebrated it or participated in Agriculture Day. If you ate something, you were touched by agriculture! Happy Belated Ag Day!

Yay, Farmers! Yay, Farm Wives! Yay, gardens, pastures, compost, horses, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, tractors, etc.,etc., etc.

How often do you say "Yay" to things? I hope you do it quite often. There is a real positive boost from seeing things in a "Yay" kind of way. There is a neat site that celebrates things in life. It's called Yay Life. They even have magnets to say "Yay". Take a look:

Aren't these fun?

"Oh, and by the way, I'm not sure how I got this
new accessory on my halter. I'm sure when all the
other horses see it, they will want one too. Maybe I
call them Wendell's Helping Hand!"

The nice Yay people are letting me give five Yay magnets to five of my readers. This will be really easy. All you have to do is comment.
How to enter:
1. Comment and tell me you want to enter. You don't even have to follow me.
2. You can get another entry by visiting Yay Life and telling me what Rachelle baked that made Carl say Yay!. It started the whole Yay website.
3. You can get another entry by telling me which Yay magnet is your favorite.

I will draw five names next Friday, March 16th.

Where's "Yay Hay"?
I don't know, Wendell.
I'm not sure I'm into this positive thinking thing!
You need to work on that, buddy.
Yay, Wendell!
Yep. You heard it straight from the horse's mouth.

Thursday Favorite Things

  1. Hi there, I love this post but wonder about the Laticino Kale(never heard of this type) and also Kohlrabi and wonder what type of vege that is?
I love life and try to say Yay to it daily. I'm a follower and would love to be entered in your giveaway. I looked at the magnets and seriously that all look cute especially the Colorado one or if one says sunshine that would be great too.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Laticino Kale is a dark, Italian variety. It's flat and makes some awesome Kale Chips. Kohlrabi is in the same family as Cabbage and Broccoli. It's a root and it makes me think of turnips without any bitterness. We just stated growing them in the last few years. I use them in the place of potatoes in a scalloped potato recipe. Some folks like them raw- that would not include me. ;)

  2. YAY PATRICE.... I don't need another magnet but I love your Yay post so I thought that I would come to say hi and Yay to you and Wendell. YAH WENDELL. Yay for Laticino Kale. Have a great belated Agriculture Day. Hugs for you and Wendell. JB

  3. YAY, I would love to enter. Bake a cake or polish the tractor. That just makes me giggle like a school girl.
