Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 33

Hello, friends. I hope everyone had a great week since we last visited on the porch. We went from spring weather to temperatures in the low thirties. It's supposed to warm up, so maybe those daffodils won't freeze. I think we'd be in the dining room today, with mugs of something warm. Wendell is content to sunbathe and not chat. He was almost friendly the other day. Hmm? Must be a sign of spring.

QUESTIONS
  1. Tell me a fond memory of an elderly person?
  2. What's your favorite flavor of jam or jelly?
  3. What goes through your mind when you drive by one of those whopping, huge houses that look like something in a magazine?
  4. What's your favorite way to relax?
  5. What's your favorite kind of pasta?
My answers:
  1. My grandmother would clear her yard of tree gumballs by using her golf clubs to send them into the yard of the elderly woman next door. You can read the post here. It was one of my earlier posts. I hope you enjoy it.
  2. I love strawberry jam, but peach jam would be a close second. I make my peach jam with very little sugar, using Pomona's pectin, so it has a vivid peach taste.
  3. Do they need a chef? Second- I wonder what their gas and electric bills run.
  4. I love to get comfy and curl up with a few good magazines. Gentle music and a cup of tea greatly enhance the experience.
  5. I have always been fond of lasagna. I've never met a lasagna I didn't like (except store bought), but my all time favorite is my white lasagna.
Have a wonderful week!

  1. That lasagna sounds so good! Peaches are one of my favorite fruits, and a lot so sweet jam would be really good. Have a great day.

  2. Your grandmother sounds like a lovely woman with a great sense of humor. I love how you can make your own jams, and envy the fact that you are a good cook. I am a horrible cook! Such is life...

  3. I always love visiting with you and listening to your chats....Your grandmother sounds like a fun one to have around...I am still laughing at her running the guy off that tried to break into her house....and the gum ball incident...we had a gum tree too and I was assigned to rack up the gum balls...not fun...I promised I would never have one of those trees and I haven't....They really hurt if you step on those gum balls but good for a fight with one's sister...until caught.....I wouldn't have wanted your grandmother to get hold of us..

    Have a great day....

  6. That makes me laugh, I want a golf club to do just that. I can just see her hitting them over the fence.
I really like this weeks questions, I am looking forward to doing them.
I hope you are having a nice week.

  11. Your story of your grandmother is so funny. Your lasagne recipe is interesting sounding, but since I don't like mushrooms and I'm really unsure about artichokes, then I think I would not try making this for us. However, the idea of chicken, cheeses, and a white sauce sounds good. I suppose I like the traditional recipe best or maybe you can call me not-so-adventureous on this one. lol Thanks for hosting!

  12. Hitting gumballs into the neighbor's yard with her golf clubs? Now that's hilarious! I'll have to read that post for sure! I love lasagna too but PENNE is my absolute favorite pasta no matter how it's prepared!

  15. Oh my, I loved your answer to #1!! I really enjoyed this and so posted my own answers on my own blog (I found you through Allison at A Farmgirl's View). I apologize as I've just been blogging since end of fall and am not real pc literate ... I don't know how to get my name in at the top here as a link, so I decided to let you know I participated way down here in the comment section!! Have a blessed Thursday!!
