Skyline Drive

Here are some photos of our recent trip to Skyline Drive. The drive is the scenic roadway in the Shenandoah National Park. It follows the Blue Ridge Mountains for 105 miles and eventually joins the Blue Ridge Parkway to the south. There is hiking, camping, ranger programs that teach, and plenty of nature to see. Many of the park facilities were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. President Herbert Hoover even had a retreat there called Rapidan Camp. This is the perfect time of year to visit, with the trees just beginning to change colors.

  1. Thanks for the taste of home! I lived next to the Drive (as we locals call it) for most of my teenage years. This IS a beautiful time of year to make the drive.
