Beds, Beds, Beds!

We found ourselves shopping for mattresses recently. We looked at the memory foam mattresses. They are quite comfortable and I would have happily continued to try one out at the bedding store if C.S.Farmer hadn't wanted to leave the store to go get dinner. Life is cruel sometimes!

The top of the line memory foam mattress was expensive. Cough*cough*cough! It was very comfortable and I would have gladly accepted one had they been giving them away. We somehow stumbled upon Bed in a Box. They're made in America (cool!), they're made from non-toxic materials, and they have a 120 day in home trial period. What's not to like about that?

We ordered a mattress for one of the girls who had been having too many problems with her back. The mattress arrived in a rather small box, but once opened, it made me think of an old 'I Love Lucy' with an inflatable boat. We put a sheet of plywood on top of her box springs and added the mattress. She's been sleeping quite comfortably ever since. You can't see the plywood with the dust ruffle, but it is necessary with memory foam mattresses to give them a foundation. Foundations can be purchased, but we just wanted the mattress for now. We don't need to keep track of the trial time for the product, because my daughter won't part with it. If you're in the market for a memory foam mattress, take a look at this company.
( I was not compensated in any way for this review. They don't even know I'm writing it, as of this post!)

Somebody else got a new bed too! Lady has been camping out in a wingback chair. It wasn't my idea, but I felt sorry for her since the little dog dug a hole in the cover of her old bed. I'm reclaiming my chair, and I think this bed is a much better orthopedic option for a big dog like her.

C.S.Farmer and I decided that we needed a good quality mattress with all of the physical work that we do. Ours arrived. Here's what it looked like when we opened it.

Once the plastic wrap is opened...

POOF!

The pillow comes in a roll and opens into a regular size
pillow.

We really love our new mattress. We sleep better and back pain has practically disappeared. The only drawback we've found is the fact that it is a bit warm.(And the fact that we don't want to get out of bed!) I've heard that all memory foam is warmer. The waterproof mattress pad may contribute to that, but it also protects our investment.

  1. I've wondered about those mattresses! And I've seen the boxes and have wondered how the heck it would fit a regular bed. I'm glad your girl is loving hers!

  2. Hubs has wanted to go with Memory foam but I wasn't thrilled when I sat on one a few years ago. I'll have to try them again. And yes, mattresses are EXPENSIVE. Like, take out a second mortgage to pay for them expensive!

  3. Thanks for the info! We desperately need a new bed and I've been too frugal (cheap) to make a commitment!

  4. I hate shopping for mattresses. I am a person who can sleep on a bed of nails. Not my husband, so finding a mattress is such hard work. We have one now that a local company sells, and I think it is wonderful.
    Not my husband.
I think it is my least favorite job.
I am so glad you found one with ease.

  9. I love my Memory Foam too and I don't want to get out of bed either. Every night when I hop in bed I' so grateful for it and I feel so sorry for all the poor people who have only a little mat so sleep on. It's bitter sweet like they say, but I wouldn't give it away.
