My farmer's preparation was good. We only lost one chick, who'd gotten away from their house and was found by a predator. The three draft horse and the little guys chose to stay out in the rain. All four of them look like the went through a car wash. The two riding horses stayed inside until the storm moved on. I think Wendell must have spent the night in the pasture instead of going for shelter in the bank barn. I fully expected to find his mane blowing the direction that the wind had blown all night!
My thoughts and prayer to those of you who are getting the storm now.
Thanks for the mud, Irene.
The pigs loved- no, LOVED the water that soaked their pen and made MUD.
Thanks to all of you who left caring comments while we waited for Irene!
oh, glad all is well there - well, except for that one chick! and that is one happy looking hog!
ReplyDeleteglad you made out ok,we are just starting to get hammered pretty good now and its just starting...
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are okay and rode it out fine. I was so worried I had my husband look up your town on Google maps and found it on radar and then I could see that you were right in the storm.
ReplyDeleteI really prayed you would be okay. So glad you already have power on.
I have been waiting for you to update all day.
Glad all is well!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad all is well at your farm. We are still getting heavy rain here in New Brunswick. We have not experienced any high winds here but my granddaughter reported high winds where she lives not farm from here. I think that all our collective prayers have paid off to appease Irene. JB
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are safe! We followed the weather news all weekend, with the tv going in the background as we went back and forth from errands and yardwork. How wonderful that your power is on!
ReplyDeleteSo thankful you are all ok. I was praying hard all weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo pleased that you escaped virually unscathed Patrice :o)
ReplyDeleteVery glad that there were no great damages on your end by Hurricane Irene. Well .... also glad that the pigs enjoyed themselves:)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it, Patrice. I was 'with you' all over the weekend and am getting reports now from friends here and there.... so far, I'm glad to say, there has been no major incidents to report from them. We can't but think of families who lost loved ones :(
ReplyDeleteGlad y'all are ok, and that the pigs are happier than ever!
Ah, good news. Thanks for letting us know.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you have happy pigs!
So glad it all went relatively well. Thank you for providing me with a better perspective on farms vs hurricanes. Usually we only have the city view.
ReplyDeleteWe're so glad you're OK, take care !
ReplyDeleteYay! Buhbye Irene, Hello sunshine!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you made it thru the storm. Wind is another fear of mine that I should have added to my list of fears.
