I don't think the Easter Bunny will be getting eggs from our laying hens if they look like this. The egg on the top left is a large egg. The one on the top right of this picture is a jumbo egg. The one on the bottom right is so much bigger than the jumbo, but the one on the bottom left is probably the biggest one that we have ever had. It weighs in at 4 1/2 ounces. It's hard to believe that all four eggs came from laying hens that are the same size and age.
Egg hunts might be a bit of a problem if something this big is used. I'll report back on how many yolks if it's more than two.
***Note: The gigantic egg had two yolks that were each bigger than an entire large egg!
What in the world are you feeding those chickens? LOL
ReplyDeleteWowzers! Jumbo eggs for sure... poor chickens ;)
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteWhat breeds are laying the big eggs?
ReplyDeleteWe got a few new breeds last year and so far haven't narrowed down who lays what hahaha
happy day!
All I can say is....Poor Chickens;)
ReplyDeleteOh dear...that poor chicken!
ReplyDeletewhat kind of barry bonds chicken feed are you giving those girls?! ooh. sorry. that was bad...
ReplyDeleteIm craving some deviled eggs about now...your chickens love you and definitely support your egg habit by going above and beyond the call of chicken duty...
ReplyDeleteMy goodness!! Now THAT is an egg!!
ReplyDeleteThat hen deserves a medal of some kind. ;)
ReplyDeleteWow!!! big eggs! You must be feeding your chickens very well
ReplyDeleteI hurt just thinking of the chicken having to push that out. Yeah, I know they are softer when that happens, but they are still BIG!!
ReplyDeleteSomebody asked what kind of chickens- they are Red Sex Links. (Doesn't that sound like a kinky heavy metal band?)
ReplyDeleteThey are something bred out of the Rhode Island Red and their name goes to the fact that the red ones are females and the non-red are males. Go figure...
Whewee! Them's some big eggs! I have one pullet who skips a day or two every once in awhile and then lays a huge double-yoker, but none that big!
ReplyDeleteHa! The name does sound like a weird rock band name! But they are sure cracking eggs! Yet *another* push for us to get chickens ;)
ReplyDeleteI have never seen eggs this big. Poor chicken!
ReplyDeleteMy gosh those are some big eggs yes! haha... Did they taste good???
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
